Steven Deveny’s interest into land surveying and caving came about from a blind date which did not work. That date eventually became his wife who introduced him to his 23 year-long Professional Land Surveying career and the National Speleological Society which lead to a 24 year-long Professional Caving Career. That mushroomed into a passion for emergency communication training and volunteer work with the Clark County Nevada Amateur Radio Emergency Service (CCNVARES), Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Nevada Task Force One (NV TF-1) FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Team, Red Rock Search and Rescue Team, Great Basin National Park, and the Great Basin Speleological Survey of the National Speleological Society.
