Michael H. Schoder Bio

Mr. Schoder is a professional cadastral surveyor, right-of-way specialist and photogrammetric surveyor who was the BLM Alaska State Office’s Deputy State Director for the BLM’s Cadastral Survey Division and the designated State Chief Cadastral Surveyor prior to his retirement from Federal service in 2017.  In this position, he held the delegated authority from the Secretary of Interior to provide and approve all official federal land surveys for the Federal interest lands in Alaska, including Indian trust lands surveys.  He was also responsible for the publication of the Public Land Survey System geospatial data for federal boundaries.  He has forty-five years of experience in performing a wide-range of surveying, right-of-way and photogrammetric-remote sensing surveys, primarily in Alaska where he has resided for the last 49 years.  He has been a registered Alaska Professional Land Surveyor since 1982.  He has a life-member of the Alaska Society of Professional Land Surveyors, and served as President 6 years.   His experience includes twenty-eight years in the private sector, four years as the Alaska DOT&PF Regional Surveyor, and thirteen years with the BLM.  He failed at full retirement, and is working part time as a Senior Land Surveyor and Quality Control / Quality Assurance manager for Kuna Engineering, a Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act Regional Corporation NANA, Inc. subsidiary.
