MSPS: Girl Scouts Power Girls Camp

We, the Surveyors of Minnesota, have an exciting opportunity to introduce and promote our profession during the Girl Scouts “Power Girls” six-day summer camp! The Power Girls program gives girls a chance to practice trade and STEM skills like land surveying, to learn from female mentors and see themselves in trade and STEM careers. The Girl Scouts are expecting approximately 90 girls (4th-10th graders) to attend Power Girls Week this July.

During the Power Girls event, each day is focused on learning about a specific trade or profession. The Girl Scouts have invited MSPS to host learning activities at the Power Girls camp on July 21st, 2022 that focus on the land surveying profession. After the girls complete the activity, they will receive a land survey patch to memorialize what they’ve learned.

To participate in this event, MSPS will be an official sponsor of Power Girls and with that comes a sponsorship fee. MSPS and MLSF have each pledged $1,000 towards the sponsorship fee. We still need to raise $5,000! The ad hoc committee planning MSPS’ participation in the event is asking you to help sponsor this event.

The Girls Scouts are a non-profit organization, as is MSPS, and your sponsor donation may be tax deductible. In recognition of your sponsorship, MSPS will recognize and thank sponsors based on the levels below.

The committee is also looking for 20 volunteers for the event. If you would like to participate in teaching land surveying to 90 girls, please email Virginia Winberg ([email protected]).
