“That Darn Blank Quarter Corner”
In Missouri (and Arkansas) the quarter corner for closing sections in the northern row and western column of sections in a township were not set by the GLO. Over the years the placement (establishment) of that “blank” corner has been the subject of conflicting statutes, conjecture, confusion, consternation, conflation and confection! What does the current statute and best practices say about establishing the blank quarter corner?
