SUMMARY:Arkansas: 2021 ASPS Spring Conference
DESCRIPTION:All states have a story about how their state boundaries were determined. But few have the complex situation that comprised the state of Alabama. From being part of Georgia\, then the Mississippi Territory\, before becoming its own Territory\, then a state of its own. Throw in being part of England\, Spain\, and France and you have a great story. Some boundaries are on the water\, some old Indian treaties\, some by agreement between state leaders\, and some being latitudes or Meridians.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpend some time with Milton Denny as he spins this tale of the history of the great State of Alabama. Learn the status of the current corners and the effort of the Alabama Society of Professional Land Surveyors working to perpetuate this Alabama history. This work gives ASPLS meaning. \n3.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) \nApproved for Alabama & Florida. \nPresented by Milton Denny

SUMMARY:Iowa: 84th Annual Conference - GOING VIRTUAL!
DESCRIPTION:Day 1: March 18\, 2021 9am-4pm (Breaks and 1 hour lunch)\nDr. Charles A. “Tony” Nettleman\, III\, PSM\, Esq.\nNettleman Land Consultants\, Inc.  www.cnettleman.net \nRiparian Ownership and Use. (This presentation will be customized to Iowa/Midwest specific issues) This presentation will also explore court proceedings dealing with riparian and how not to wind up in court in the first place. \nLocating the side and lateral boundaries of riparian ownership is difficult! The terra firma adjoining the water is constantly moving and shifting\, but the ownership lines that extend into the water are fixed by centuries of jurisprudence. Did your property experience a build-up of sediment or a major allusive event? Even more\, the evidence is required before finding the boundary. These subjects can be some of the most frustrating and time-consuming land disputes. Even more important than riparian ownership is the allocation of docking rights. There are many methods to allocate riparian use between neighbors\, and choosing the correct method is critical to properly locating lines of use. \nDay 2: March 19\, 2021 (9am-12pm) \n9am: Update New Datum 2022. Dave Zenk\, PE\, PLS\, NGS\nNAD 83 and NAVD 88\, although still the official horizontal and vertical datums of the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS)\, have been identified as having shortcomings that are best addressed through defining new horizontal and vertical datums. The new reference frames (geometric and geopotential) will rely primarily Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) such as the Global Positioning System (GPS) as well as an updated and time-tracked geoid model. This paradigm will be easier and more cost-effective to maintain. Learn how the new datums may affect your work and how to prepare for the future. \n10am: Strategies for Locating Survey Information on the Iowa Department of Transportation Public Website “myDOT Docs.”\nCraig Steffensmeier\, PLS\, Senior Land Surveyor\, IaDOT \n11am ETHICS: To ensure the public’s safety\, the Iowa Code defines the importance and expectation of ethical behavior for licensed land surveyors. Learn about behaving ethically and professionally in a business context\, the principles behind ethical decision making and putting ethics into practice as a licensed land surveyor. One hour provided towards Iowa’s continuing education ethics requirement. Rita Perea\, Rita Perea\, Leadership Coaching & Consulting. https://www.ritaperea.com/

SUMMARY:CLSA: Processing Static GPS Data With CORS and PBO in TBC Presented by Landon Blake\, Redefined Horizons
DESCRIPTION:Processing Static GPS Data With CORS and PBO In TBC\, California has a dense CORS and PBO stations network. A land surveyor can use these stations to establish state plane coordinates. With just a bit of extra effort during field surveys\, a surveyor can put these coordinates on primary control points and property corner monuments. In this webinar\, Landon will show you how to use actual data and Trimble Business Center. \nIn the webinar\, Landon will answer these questions: \n1) How do you download CORS and PBO data? \n2) How do you use ephemeris to improve processing? \n3) How do you process baselines and analyze loop closures? \n4) Where do you get your controlling coordinate information? \n5) How do you get a NAVD 88 elevation for your seed point? \n6) How should you configure your network adjustment? \n7) How do you calculate the accuracy of your adjusted network? \nTo register\, please visit: \nhttps://register.gotowebinar.com/register/4688349879552142352
